From the farmers' market

Hi Sibyl,

Grandpa Charlie and I went to the farmers' market on Sunday. We
bought peaches, blueberries, peas, onions, beans, and tomatoes. We
also bought some little lettuces to plant in the garden, and some begonias,
which have flowers.

Cow, donkey and goat

Hi Sibyl,

There's a part of the zoo here that has barnyard animals. I took
pictures of the cows, the donkeys and the goats. Here they are for you.

Did you go to the beach with Mom and Pop? Was there sand there?
In August we will all go to the beach together. Grandpa Charlie, Uncle Norman,
Uncle Will, Aunt Val and I will be there. Later we will see Aunt Amy, Uncle Yuliy,
and Leora. And Gran, Aunt Greta and Uncle Aaron will be there. You will then see
Aunt Leslie, Uncle Mac and maybe even your cousin Julia. It will be lots of fun.

Lion and tiger

Hi Sibyl,

I know you have lions and tigers in your zoo. The zoo
here in Washington has them too. These were both resting
in the grass near some rocks. Have a look.

I saw you climbing the stairs to the slide. Rosie
was climbing too. You are big girls.

Macaques

Hi Sibyl,

The macaques at the zoo seemed very shy. There were three
of them, and they like each other very much. Have a look.

Panda and Horse

Hi Sibyl,

The panda was sleeping when I went to the zoo. He only
woke up long enough to scratch his nose. But then I
saw a beautiful horse. Here they both are.

Seals

Hi Sibyl,

Here are the seals I found swimming at the zoo. They love the water,
just like you do. They also like to be up on the rock. Have a look
at how fast they swim.

Pelicans

Hi Sibyl,

Here are some pelicans for you. They have very big beaks,
because they like to swallow fish whole. Here they are in the
zoo, living next to the seals. I will show you the seals soon.

things to eat with his trunk and puts them in his mouth.

Here's a clip of the baby elephant at our zoo in Washington DC. He likes to
walk back and forth, picking up food with his trunk and waving his tail. He's
a baby, but he's very big. Have a look.

Alpacas

Grandpa Charlie and I saw some alpacas on our trip up north. Alpacas are very fuzzy,
and they get shaved for their wool. Only their heads have long hair. Have a look.

Swans

Hi Sibyl,

Your Uncle Norman would like to share with you his photos and video of the swans near
his place in Connecticut. He took pictures when the mother swan was sitting on her nest,
waiting for her eggs to hatch. Later, he returned to take a video of the baby swans, called
cynets. Here they are for you.

You will be seeing Uncle Norman this summer at the beach house. We will all have
lots of fun there.
